LED Bulb Buying Guide
Understanding Lumens vs Watts
Lumens = Brightness: Look at lumens, not watts, to choose brightness. 800 lumens = old 60W, 1100 lumens = old 75W, 1600 lumens = old 100W.
Watts = Energy: LED wattage tells you energy consumption. A 10W LED produces the same light as a 60W incandescent at a fraction of the cost.
Rule of Thumb: Divide old incandescent wattage by 6-7 to find the LED equivalent.
Choosing the Right Base
A19 (E26): The most common household bulb. Standard medium screw base fits most lamps and fixtures.
BR30: Recessed can lights (6" cans). Wider flood beam for ceiling downlights.
Candelabra (E12): Smaller base for chandeliers, sconces, and decorative fixtures.
GU10/MR16: Track lighting and accent spots. Pin or twist-lock base.
