General Tools began as the brainchild of Abe and Lillian Rosenberg in New York City in 1922. Originally known as General Hardware Manufacturing Co., Abe — a WWI veteran and creative thinker — traveled to New England machine shops to bring his specialty tool ideas to life, starting with circle cutters, metal punches, and pocket screwdrivers.
