How to Install a KV Shelf Standard System
Planning Your Layout
Locate studs: Use a stud finder to mark wall studs. KV standards must be anchored into studs for maximum load capacity — never rely on drywall anchors alone for heavy shelving.
Spacing: Place standards 24" to 32" apart for standard loads. For heavy items like books or tools, reduce spacing to 16" to 24".
Level first: Install the first standard plumb and level, then use it as a reference point for all remaining standards.
Mounting & Finishing
Fasteners: Use #10 or #12 wood screws, minimum 2" long, driven into studs. Pre-drill to prevent splitting.
Bracket installation: Insert brackets into the standard slots at the same height on each standard. KV's positive lock design clicks into place and holds securely.
Shelf placement: Place shelves on brackets and check for level. Adjust bracket height in 1" increments as needed.
