About this grill
The BBQ05SS
The BBQ05SS is Tagwood’s built-in Santa Maria grill — the same stainless steel 304 cooking system as the BBQ03SS, made to drop into a custom outdoor kitchen island or masonry surround. It offers 557 sq. in. across a crank-adjustable main grate, an interchangeable griddle and S-shaped meat hooks, above a firebrick-lined firebox (brasero).
The standard right-side elevation wheel can be built frontal for tight islands, and the unit is available factory fully assembled. Pair it with a Tagwood wall-mounted or attachment smoke hood (special order) for covered lanais. Ships partially assembled with hooks, griddle, coal rake and shovel.

BBQ05SS questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Tagwood BBQ05SS in stock?
Yes — the BBQ05SS with round grates, right-side elevation wheel and partial assembly is stocked and typically ships within a few business days. Configured builds (V-shape grates, frontal elevation, factory assembly) are made to order by Tagwood; we confirm the lead time with you after checkout.
How much does the BBQ05SS cost and does the price include shipping?
The BBQ05SS is $4,500 MSRP (Tagwood pricing effective June 4, 2026). V-shape grates and a frontal elevation wheel are $100 each, factory full assembly is $400. Shipping is free in the contiguous U.S. — grills ship crated on a pallet by freight (curbside), accessories by parcel. Sales tax is calculated at checkout.
Round grates or V-shape grates?
Round stainless grates are standard and come with the interchangeable griddle; they sear with classic grill marks and let fat drip to the coals for flavor. V-shape grates are channeled and slightly tilted so fat runs off to a drip channel — cleaner, fewer flare-ups, easier on delicate foods. Choosing V-shape replaces the round grates and excludes the griddle.
What cut-out does the BBQ05SS need?
Use the BBQ05SS installation parameters PDF linked on this page for exact cut-out and clearance dimensions before framing. Our outdoor kitchen team can also coordinate the opening with your builder or with a Challenger Designs island — request a quote and mention your project.
